August at Le Grand Lodge |
Blues are at their Bluest; Greens are at their Greenest!
It seems as though Thanksgiving has made an early start here at the hotel. I want to extend a special thank you to Mr. & Mrs. Macmillan, active and loyal owners at the Grand Lodge, for referring groups who we entertained in June and the other we will be hosting in September. And also thank you to Mr. Bud Iredale for bringing his golf group to the hotel for the 2nd consecutive year. Good things happen at the Grand Lodge and for Mr. Iredale it was experiencing his first hole in one. Congratulations Bud!
We work hard at taking care of all our guests and are grateful for the opportunity to greet each one of you that comes through our doors. |

Everything is in place...
The Kid’s Club is off to a good start with our two motivated and eager camp counselors and a full schedule of fun and learning activities for kids 5 to 12. From their smiles and the laughter through the halls, I think everyone is enjoying themselves. The beach is in superb shape and our lake has just been evaluated with excellent water quality! |
|
...even Mother Nature!
And thank you to Mother Nature who couldn’t be kinder with some of the nicest weather conditions in years; lots of sunshine and just enough rain. The blues couldn’t be bluer and the greens couldn’t be greener, as all of us here at the Grand Lodge look forward to welcoming you with open arms for your summer vacation.
I look forward to being your host in our small corner of paradise.
Warmest regards,
Michael Kucyniak

Chef David’s Recipe Corner |
|
| Chef David’s recipe this month brings the ocean to your table. |
|
| Giant Grilled Prawns with their Two Spicy Salads |
|
|
|
| • |
4 large prawns |
| |
| Mango Salsa: |
| • |
2 large bunches of coriander leaves |
| • |
1 red onion sliced |
| • |
3 mangos thinly sliced in julienne |
| • |
2 tablespoons of raw sugar |
| • |
3 tablespoons of fish sauce |
| • |
2 tablespoons of olive oil |
| • |
2 Jalapeno peppers or any other hot pepper |
| • |
Juice of 3 limes |
| |
| Tomato Salsa: |
| • |
2 tablespoons of lemon juice |
| • |
1 white onion |
| • |
2 garlic cloves sliced |
| • |
2 handfuls of fresh coriander |
| • |
2 Italian tomatoes remove the seeds and crush |
| • |
1 red pepper finely sliced |
|
|
| |
For this salsa, simply mix all the ingredients!
In a bowl, mix the lemon juice, pepper, olive oil, fish sauce and sugar.
Add the mangos, onion and coriander. Then delicately mix together.
Grill the prawns on the barbecue and serve with the mango salsa.
It would be equally delicious by
replacing the prawns with scallops
and coriander with basil.
Bon appétit! |

Whisky Bar Recipe
The popular American actor Bruce Willis recently unveiled his recipe for My Sobieski at the Ritz in Paris. Yves, your favorite bartender, shares it
with you:
Ingredients for 1 person:
| • |
1.5 oz of vodka, preferably "Tovaritch" |
| • |
0.5 oz of anisette |
| • |
1 teaspoon of sugar cane syrup |
| • |
fresh ginger |
| • |
lemongrass stem |
| • |
9 pieces of diced pineapple |
In a glass, vigorously crush the ginger, pineapple and freshly cut lemongrass. Add the sugar cane syrup, anisette and vodka. Transfer the mixture to a shaker glass along with 6 to 8 ice cubes, and shake well. Serve in a cocktail glass. Garnish with a pineapple leaf and a crystallized cherry or with 2 lemongrass stems.
Santé! |
